Beating
the Blues™ is a proven clinical treatment for anxiety and depression,- two of the
clinical conditions that can result from prolonged exposure to stressful
situations. The programme was developed in conjunction with the Institute of Psychiatry
and is available as a self installable CD. It is now in use in over 100
sites within National Health Service Primary Care Trusts, Community Mental
Health Trusts and specialist CBT services as a treatment option for
anxiety and depression. Randomised controlled trials have demonstrated
that Beating the Blues™ is
clinically efficacious and, in addition, it has been shown to cut the
number of days lost through sickness absence. It is also being used as
part of the governments 'Pathways to Work' initiative to help people get
back to work after extended periods of sick leave.
